First, yes I had to hack the modem/network adapter a bit to make it fit. The hardest part was finding the right size torx driver. (It's a T7 on mine.) Hacking it was simple once that is out of the way. Remove the back plate (shiny aluminum piece). Take the two screws out of the molex connector (the 4-pin power connector). That connector needs to be moved to the left a bit. WD drives have the 40-pin and 4-pin conectors further apart than most manufacturers. However, you'll notice that the aluminum plate will not let the 4-pin connector slide to the left any. Grab the tin snips. *Snip* *Snip* You want to cut the plate so that there is nothing to the left of the 4-pin. Now, put the back plate back on without the screws in place for the power connector. The power connector should slide to the left easily. Match that connectors up with the drive and slide it in. Done.

Started with the HDAdvance discs. DVD laser had lots of problems reading the disc. CD would never load. Always DREd out. Switched to MCexploit for HDLoader with Keylauncher front end. No problems since. Works perfectly. If you are still using HDadvance, I would highly recommend switching to HDLoader.

If you are interested, google this string "Setting Up the Exploit with Retail HDL Software"

You should find all the information that you need there. Once you get the execFTPs running and can network to the PS2, it's very easy to put programs on the memory card. It makes it a snap to upgrade HDL versions or test other programs. The hardest part of the operation is getting everything networked and getting the memory card visible through the ftp program. TIP: format your memory card first. I bought new cards and was having a problem seeing them. After formatting, they showed perfectly in ftp.

If you actually read this and have any questions, you can try emailing me. I don't check this address often but I will try to help.
