Brand new drive - didn't format it in any way. Fitted network adaptor to HDD. Slipped it into PS2. Plugged in cables, put in HD Advance v3.0, loaded up, it asked me if I wanted to format the drive, select yes, wait a few seconds (as the drive has not been formatted, will be longer, if the drive has been formatted before), then I used the built-in HD Advance server (boot up PS2 with HD Advance disk in drive, and when the PlayStation2 logo comes up, hold down any button on the control pad) and HDL-Dumb on my PC to transfer some games to the HDD (this method of transferring games over a network, is a lot slower than copying games straight from CD/DVD, A 2-3GB game, takes approx. 35 Mins to transfer from the PC to the PS2 HDD, but doesn't put any stress on the PS2 laser, and is cheaper and easier than buying a HDD enclosure, and having to remove it from the PS2, everytime you want to install a game, which increases the wear and tear on the pins in the connectors on the HDD.
Absolutely brilliant HDD, super quiet, and super fast. I had this drive on for approx. 6 Hrs. today, when I was tranferring games to the HDD, and then playing games off it, and then removed it to get the details of it for this review, and it was very cool. I have the DiamondMax 9 version of this drive, in my Xbox, and I am also very pleased with that. They are both Well work the £30.00, each, I spent on them |
