It's wierd! I have heard of these situations, yet since 1995, I have not encreiexped hard drive failure with any computer. I have or have had 6-7 since than, and right now I have 5 external hard drives varying from 100 GB-750 GB (from 3 years old to 3 months old). I guess I've been lucky! Well I would make sure it is actually the hard drive. Since it's an internal drive, I assume you took off the cover and are listening to the inside? It's possible the PC lost communication to the drive. You need to go into setup when your PC first starts and look at the list of drives. Have setup auto detect and see if it can redetect the drive. I have had to do this a couple times over the years. If that doesnt work, than try unplugging the cables (the power supply and motherboard cable) going to the hard drive, and reseat them. Just unplug and plug back in. Sometimes this does this trick. I read some reviews of the product and it does in fact seem that that this drive has bite the dust for quite a few people. Many noticed a louder and louder noise, than dead! I actually read reviews before I bought my newest Seagate MY BOOK. A certain model had a lot of defect rates, and another model DID NOT! Some of the reviewers say STAY AWAY FROM the 320 GB model of your HD. So before you buy your next hard drive, read the NewEgg.com or Amazon reviews and pick a model with VERY good reviews. Data recovery is expensive, are the files worth it? If it's music your most concerned about, you can probably retrieve it all from UTorrent. If you paid for your music once, you don't have to feel bad about downloading it the second time. Whats fair is fair! But chances are retrieving the data back yourself will be much cheaper!
