I got this HD off ebay last week. I\'ve used the HDloader for sometime now on the Sony HDD, so I decided to upgrade to have more space to work with. It works fine with what the HDloader will let it use. I haven\'t found one problem yet.
I really like your site and am very grateful that someone would take the time to collect info for everyone to use. That\'s the main reason i wanted to submit what i\'ve been using. Please get back to me if you need any other info. Thanks again and have a great week. |

what is the hdloader. do you have to buy it separate from the harddrive? How do you put a harddrive in the PS2? How do you know what version PS2 do you have? what do i need to purchase to accomplish this? |

You will need 3 things to put a hard drive in your PS2.
1) A hard drive. 80GB to 200GB internal HDD works best and Maxtor fits in nicely to PS2. Western Digitals not so well.
2) Network Adapter for the PS2 (to plug your HDD into)
3) HD loader or HDadvance
I bought all my stuff on eBay. I got the Maxtor 4R120L0 120GB HDD for $43 after shipping. The PS2 network adapter for $22 (you can get one anywhere they sell PS2 for about $40). And I got the HDadvance 2.0 for $28. I haven't found anywhere that they sell HDadvance in stores so you probably have to get this online. The advantage to the HDadvance 2.0, is that it works with HDDs up to 200GB whereas the older versions and loader only go up to 120GB and HDadvance also come with a disc for loading DVD games too.
To install the HDD is pretty easy. First, take off the black plactic cover on the back of your PS2 that is about the size of a HDD. Plug your HDD into the network adapter and slide it in. Boot up your PS2, insert HDadvance and it will format the HDD for you. When you want to save games to the HDD just run HDadvance, hit convert and put the game disc into the PS2 and it will copy to the HDD. |
