Additional notes: Report this entry - Edit
1. Adapter does not provide enough power to boot this HD, need outside power source and an IDE 40pin male-to-female extension cord to use the HD outside of PS2.
2. Formated by PS2 to 298GB, 295GB free.
3. Use WinHIIP v1.76 to transfer games to the HD via a CD IDE cord. IDE cords for HDs do not seem to work.
4. Works great, but the first time it took a couple min to boot the HD.

Wow man you're a real genius!
I have exactly the same drive, which i choosed because of all the great reviews,
but it happened that i have the same problem as you.. HDLoader freeze on the splash screen 9 times out of 10.
It is indeed a lack of power problem.
So i dismantled the network adapter, removed the molex, used an external power supply
and it worked!
but it so tedious that i'll buy another drive
In order to use a power supply without motherboard, you need to do a trick which can be seen there: http://www.adnpc.net/dossiers/54/lire.php
It is risky for yourself and your drive if not cautious.
Also you absolutly need to turn on the external power supply only when the HDLoader splash screen appear.
Sorry for bad english.

Rectification you don't need to turn on the power supply at the splash screen, you just have to do it when you turn on your ps2.
Another method which i use now is to plug a spare molex of your PC in the hard drive and turn on your pc then turn on your console.
But you must not unplug the power output from the network adaptor board as i have done at first because it will not work then.
